What is Premarital Counseling and Should We Do It?

Premarital Counseling is a specialized type of counseling that focuses on engaged couples who are planning to get married. Premarital Counseling offers a safe space for couples to form a strong foundation together for collaboration in values, goals, and expectations in a future marriage.

What Topics are Covered in Premarital Counseling?

Premarital counseling is an open space to discuss any topics that may need further clarity or guidance in forming unity within a relationship. Topics include but are not limited to:

  • Finances

  • Family Building

  • Roles and Responsibilities

  • Sex and Intimacy

  • Beliefs

  • Values

  • Hobbies and Leisure Time

  • Conflict Resolution

  • Family Relationships and Boundary Setting

Premarital Counseling offers prevention of future conflicts through open discussion and exploration of beliefs, values, and expectations. It is the first step towards working as a team. It is such a special time as a couple to learn more about each other and begin envisioning your future together.
