We believe all providers that interact in the birthing community need to be able to recognize warning signs of maternal mental health. Providers need to have the skills, training, and accessible tools to utilize effective screening methods and assessment tools for maternal mental health. To provide high-quality evidence-based approaches and treatments providers need training in competency to offer immediate intervention and crisis response to maternal mental health emergencies. Long-term, providers must be a part of conversations in therapy rooms and in policy to help the United States fund and develop long-term maternal mental health resources for mothers in the United States.
